Class Descriptions
All classes taught at Dance Arts Academy are designed to teach dance skills as well as life skills where our students will learn to be humble and respectful, have determination to reach their goals, and have a creative outlet to express themselves. Dance Arts Academy is a safe, inclusive environment, and a home away from home.
Classes for ages 0-4
Classes for ages 3-5
Sparkle Sprouts 1: For ages 3-4. Dancers learn beginning ballet steps and positions, creative movement, locomotor skills, coordination, social skills and building self-esteem in an uplifting environment. Lots of fun props and themes are used to keep the class moving and always exciting!
Sparkle Sprouts 2: For ages 4-5. This class continues the progression of beginning ballet steps, positions, and technique. Dancers are still developing their coordination and locomotor skills and applying them to ballet steps while experiencing the joy of dance! |
Glitter Gems 1: A Ballet and Tap Combo class for preschoolers ages 4-5. Glitter Gems will learn rhythm and coordination, experience the joy of dance through themed lessons using proper ballet and tap terminology.
Glitter Gems 2: A Ballet and Tap Combo class for Kindergarteners, or ages 5-6. Glitter Gems will continue their progression in learning rhythm and coordination, building their dance skills and confidence. Instructors use themed lessons using proper ballet and tap terminology.

Hippety Hop 1: A beginning movement class for ages 3-5 incorporating rhythm, coordination and locomotor skills, using fun and funky upbeat music.
Classes for ages 6-8
Ballet: Dancers follow a traditional ballet class format with a warm-up, exercises at the barre and center, and across the floor progressions. Great attention to technique, proper alignment, posture, and grace are given at each level.
Tap: Dancers learn rhythm, coordination, and timeless tap steps which translate into choreography. Tappers experience the happiness of dance through their feet! Offered in a combo class with jazz at level 1 for ages 6-8 and by itself at level 2 for ages 7-9. Jazz: Dancers work on flexibility, strength and technique and apply them to turns, leaps, jumps and stylized choreography at all levels. A ballet background is helpful and dancers are encouraged to take ballet along with jazz classes. Offered in a combo class with tap at level 1 for ages 6-8 and by itself at level 2 for ages 7-9. Hippety Hop 2: A continuation of Hippety Hop 1 for ages 5-7. Hip Hop 1: Students will learn rhythm, coordination and various funky styles of movement all set to age appropriate music. Charisma and style abound in these uplifting and fresh classes! Acro: Students build strength and flexibility while working on individual tumbling skills. Musical Theater 1: A Musical Theater dance class focuses on teaching choreography and movement inspired by popular Broadway shows. Students experience a blend of dance styles, while also incorporating acting, vocals and character work. The class emphasizes storytelling through dance, while helping performers express their emotions. It's energetic, expressive, and often set to musical theater songs, aiming to enhance both dance skills and stage presence. |
Classes for ages 8-11

A ballet background is helpful and dancers are encouraged to take ballet along with jazz classes. Lyrical: Dancers learn emotional and beautiful styles of movement using ballet and jazz technique. Students are required to take Ballet class to enroll in Lyrical classes. Dancers strive to perform with passion and to pull at the heartstrings of their audience. Hip Hop: Students will learn rhythm, coordination and various funky styles of movement all set to age appropriate music. Charisma and style abound in these uplifting and fresh classes! Acro: Students build strength and flexibility while working on individual tumbling skills. Musical Theater 1&2: A Musical Theater dance class focuses on teaching choreography and movement inspired by popular Broadway shows. Tap: Dancers learn rhythm, coordination, and timeless tap steps which translate into choreography. Tappers experience the happiness of dance through their feet! Jazz: Dancers work on flexibility, strength and technique and apply them to turns, leaps, jumps and stylized choreography at all levels. A ballet background is helpful and dancers are encouraged to take ballet along with jazz classes. Lyrical: Dancers learn emotional and beautiful styles of movement using ballet and jazz technique. Students are required to take Ballet class to enroll in Lyrical classes. Dancers strive to perform with passion and to pull at the heartstrings of their audience. Hip Hop: Students will learn rhythm, coordination and various funky styles of movement all set to age appropriate music. Charisma and style abound in these uplifting and fresh classes! Pointe: For dancers who have shown great strength and progression in ballet class and who are at least 12 years of age. Dancers must receive instructor approval to join the pointe class and be properly fitted for pointe shoes. Acro: Students build strength and flexibility while working on individual tumbling skills. Musical Theater 2&3: A Musical Theater dance class focuses on teaching choreography and movement inspired by popular Broadway shows. Students experience a blend of dance styles, while also incorporating acting, vocals and character work. The class emphasizes storytelling through dance, while helping performers express their emotions. It's energetic, expressive, and often set to musical theater songs, aiming to enhance both dance skills and stage presence. |
