Our dance classes are off to a great start and we thank you for choosing us for your dance education! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us by phone or by email, anytime! There are always events and performances to be aware of, so we will send out regular emails to keep you updated and the information can also be found on our website. Also, "like us" on Facebook for quick reminders and fun dance postings! BDTA's Free Fall Workshop The Boise Dance Teachers Association's annual fall workshop will be Saturday, September 27th at Sawtooth Middle School. This is a FREE workshop for ages 8-up and space is limited, so sign up by clicking here! Students will take class in jazz, hip hop and ballet from professional instructors/choreographers. The event will be from 8:45 am to noon. Don't miss out on this FREE event! Upcoming Dance Convention Nuvo is coming to Boise November 8-9! This dance convention boasts instructors like Travis Wall, Stacey Tookey, and Ray Leeper, all choreographers we have seen on So You Think You Can Dance! Dancers ages 7-up are eligible to attend, but they need to be able to have the stamina to dance all day for two days (one day option available)! There is also a Nubie workshop for ages 5-7 that is a 3 hour workshop. Fees are $225 for ages 7-11 and $240 for ages 12-up for the two day workshop. Nubies are $95. If you are interested in attending, please sign up here no later that October 1st, before fees go up. For more information about Nuvo, check out www.gonuvo.com We at DAA want our dancers to learn more bout dance that just the steps, so this year we are focusing on themes from dance history each month in the different genres we offer. For the month of September we will learn about: Jazz: Jack Cole Tap: Fred Astaire Ballet: Swan Lake Hip Hop: Boogaloo Reminder: Tuition is due by the 5th of the month and can be paid online or in the office. Late fees of $5 per month will be charged beginning in October. You may also choose to sign up for auto pay and never worry about late fees!

Dancers are encouraged to get fitted for dance shoes, shop for class attire, meet our instructors, pick up recital pictures and DVD's, and enjoy some ice cream! Registration for fall classes is going on now! Log in at www.DanceArtsBoise.com to enroll before classes are full! Recital bears are back! Order forms are going home this week! There are lots of options for bears and outfits- you can even order just the outfit for a bear you already love! Orders can be made online, by phone, or just drop off your form at the office and we'll do it for you! Be sure to have it in by April 29th to ensure delivery before the recital! Shoe Swap We are now collecting dance shoes for the shoe swap, which will be held the first week of May in the studio lobby. If you donate shoes, you will receive a discount coupon towards another pair of shoes from the swap. All funds from the swap go into the fundraising account for the performance teams to help with travel and competition expenses. Summer class and camp schedules are now available!

Wicked Workshop April 26th at Dance Arts Academy Come learn choreography from the show, taught by a touring cast member! 10:00-11:15 Ages 8-11 11:15-12:30 Ages 12-up Cost: $20 due at the time of sign up to reserve your spot. Don't miss this exciting opportunity! Dance Camp Scholarships Applications due April 1st Dancers interested in attending camp this summer at the College of Southern Idaho campus in Twin Falls, have the opportunity to apply for scholarship funds from the Boise Dance Teachers Association. Students ages 9-11 can attend as Junior Campers for a one day camp and ages 12-18 can go for a one or two week camp. To apply, submit an essay on: :What dance means to me and why I want to attend dance camp," by April 1st. For more information on the CSI dance camp, visitwww.csi.edu/dancecamp "Carnival" Dance RecitalMay 31, 2014 at Centennial High School Costumes will be going home soon! All preschool dancers through level 1 classes will receive their costume in a labeled white shopping bag. The labels are color coded for each class to help you find your group during recital day activities (rehearsal, dressing rooms, etc). Upper level dancers will be responsible for keeping their costume items together- a bag of some sort is recommended! We will be having two recitals, 2:00 and 6:00. Show assignments have been posted in the lobby. Tickets will be $7.00 or $10.00 for both shows and will be available two weeks prior to May 31st. There will also be a showcase performance at 4:00, where our three performing teams will present their dances from the year. This will be a free show for all to attend! Recital Program Ad Contest Ad contest forms are going home this week for our annual recital yearbook. These are a fun keepsake to highlight all of the things our dancers did throughout the year! All dancers who sublit an ad will recieve thier book for free and will be entered into a drawing for a $20 Wahooz gift card. Sell more ads and compete for top prozes:1st place- free tuition for the 2014-2015 season, 2nd place- free performance package fort he 2014-2015 season, 3rd place- $50 dance attire package and 4th place- a personalized dnace bag! Ad submissions are due by April 7th. Summer ProgramsThe summer camp schedule for dancers ages 3-8 has been posted and the summer class schedule will be out next week! Don't let your learning stop when summer comes- keep dancing! Maybe try a new style of dance and invite a friend and introduce the love of dance to them! Classes will be offered in an 8 week session for the summer with fall classes resuming again after Labor Day. Fall schedules will be out in May for early registration. Enrollment deadline approaching
Recital costumes will be ordered in the next two weeks and the deadline to register for classes for the 2013-2014 season is February 1st! If you need to make a change to your schedule or would like to add classes, don't wait! We want you to be a part of our spring show on May 31st! New adult hip hop class Time to get up and moving! Join our adult hip hop class beginning January 9th. The class runs for six weeks and is $50 for the session. There is no registration fee or performance fee for this class. Register online today to reserve your spot! Nutcracker wrap up Thank you to all of you who participated and helped make our sixth annual Nutcracker a success! We donated two barrels of food to the Meridian Food Bank! Please remember to return your Nutcracker costumes when you return to class the week of January 6th. Lost and found Also the lost and found at the studio is overflowing! Please check in the coming week to see if any of your belongings are there. Freeze Frame January 25th is the annual Freeze Frame fundraiser performance for the Boise Dance Teachers Association. The shows will be held at Columbia High School. The following classes from DAA will be participating: Hippety Hop (Wed & Fri) Boys Hip Hop 1 Boys Hip Hop 2 DAA Performance Teams Int Tap Jazz 3 Ballet 1 (Wed only) Show times are 10:30, 2:30, and 6:30. The public is invited to attend! More information about BDTA can be found at www.boisedanceteachers.org Free recital tickets! The enrollment deadline for this dance season is approaching and January is the perfect time to get started in a new dance class! When you refer a friend to register at Dance Arts Academy, you and your friend will each receive two tickets to the spring recital on May 31st! Your friend can even take advantage of our free class coupon to try us out first! Free class coupons can be printed from the DAA homepage. Pass on the love of dance to your friends! Offer Expires: February 1, 2014 We are open for classes November 25-27 (Monday-Wednesday), the week of Thanksgiving. Classes are cancelled for the holiday weekend November 28-30 (Thursday-Saturday). Enjoy the time with family! Happy Feet for the Holidays Project We are all so blessed and it is the time of year to share with others! Dance Arts Academy is partnering with the ministries of the Boise Rescue Mission to collect new, unworn socks to be distributed to the homeless this holiday season. I have set a goal of 250 pairs- if each dancer brings one pair of socks we will more than exceed our goal! We will collect socks through December 21st. You can bring them to the studio starting today! Please bring socks that are warm and are meant to be worn year round (no Christmas socks, please). Brief Studio Pointes
The holidays are approaching and we have several events for you to know about! All ballet classes (Pre Ballet levels and above) are learning dances for the Nutcracker on December 21st. Many classes are performing at the Festival of Trees on November 30th and all dancers are invited to participate in the first annual Meridian Winter Lights Parade on December 6th. Please see the details for
each event below: The Nutcracker Ballet The $25 Nutcracker fee has been posted with November tuition. This fee covers a costume rental and two tickets to the performance. Additional tickets will be available two weeks prior to the show for $6 or $5 with a food donation for the Meridian Food Bank. If your child is unable to participate, please let us know so we can make arrangements for the choreography and credit the fee to your account. We will need several volunteers to help with different aspects of the production. Volunteers can sign up this week and will have the participation fee waived. Please let me know if you have any questions! Festival of Trees Performance Festival of Trees is a fundraising event for St. Alphonsus Hospital held at the Boise Centre on the Grove each year over Thanksgiving weekend. It is a privilege for us to be invited to perform and we are happy to support their event! Dancers are admitted for free, but all family members and spectators will need to pay admission. Our performance time is Saturday, November 30th at 1:45 pm. Dancers will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to show. All students are invited to join us! The participation fee is $10 to cover the cost of lights and accessories for the dancers. Sign up at the office to reserve your spot in this fun event! Remember, tuition is due by the 5th of each month. You can pay online, in the office, or you can opt in for auto pay and leave the remembering to us! Also, we are opening a new Me & My Shadow class on Thursdays at 4:00, beginning November 7th. This is an accompanied dance class for 2 year olds. Please let me know if you are interested in having your child join the class! Coming in January: Adult Hip Hop! We will be offering a 6 week adult hip hop session after the holidays! Admission is $5.00 or $7.00 for you and a friend who is new to DAA. This party is geared for ages 8-up and there will be snacks, games, dancing, door prizes and more! There are several super exciting events coming soon for our dancers! We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities! Please let the office know if you have questions! Hip Hop Master Class October 5th We have the amazing opportunity to host Kaitlin Niewoehner, a cast member of the traveling Broadway show, Memphis! She will be teaching two hip hop classes on Saturday, October 5th. The beg/int level (ages 8-11) will be at 10:00 am and the int/adv level (ages 11-up) will be at 11:00 am. The cost is only $15.00 and you can sign up at the office. Space is limited, so be sure to get a spot soon! BDTA Fall Workshop September 28th The Boise Dance teachers Associations annual fall workshop is on Saturday, September 28th at Sawtooth Middle School. Dancers ages 8-up are invited to attend this FREE event. The workshop is paid for by funds raised from the annual Freeze Frame shows in January. You can still sign up at the office. Some of our slots have filled, but I am able to bring more dancers! The morning of the workshop, dancers need to arrive between 8:30-8:45 am dressed in dance clothes and with a water bottle. There will be three sessions for classes; ballet, jazz, and hip hop. The mini age group (8-10yrs) will be dismissed at 11:45 and the Junior and Senior age groups will be dismissed at noon. Parents will not be able to stay and watch the classes. Dotty will be the studio representative at the workshop for the duration of the classes and will check in each student. Upcoming Performances
