Welcome to Dance Arts Academy

Dance Arts Academy was established in Boise in 1976 and is committed to giving each student a positive dancing experience while teaching fundamentals that will give support to their personal growth and self-confidence building.

We teach classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and ballroom. Students may take classes beginning at age two and continue through adult. Students under age three may participate in an assisted dance class (Mommy and Me), while three year olds take class on their own with an instructor. Combo classes are introduced to preschool and kindergarten aged students where they learn the basics and fundamentals of ballet and tap. We also offer a Hippety Hop class for ages 5-7, which introduces rhythm and beginning hip hop technique.

As students get older, they are given more choices and opportunities for dance classes. At age 6, or first grade, Jazz is introduced in a Jazz/Tap Combo class and Ballet is offered separately. After these beginning classes, the students progress into taking dance styles in separate classes where they have more time to learn and perfect the techniques for each discipline. Students are encouraged to study more than one style, but it is not required.

Dance Arts Academy also offers a pre-professional performing team for dancers who love to perform and want to rise to the next level in their dancing abilities. These dancers perform year-round and have danced in regional and national competitions as well as performed in Walt Disney World and Disneyland on several occasions

All students are given the opportunity to perform and show off what they have learned in class. Ballet students perform in our annual Nutcracker performance and we also take students to perform at Festival of Trees, Freeze Frame, the Winterland Parade, Dairy Days Parade, local retirement homes and other local events. All students are invited to perform in our annual spring recital.

Dance Arts Academy is a member of the Boise Dance Teacher’s Association which upholds high standards in dance and ethical business practices.
